Bio

I am married to Shelagh and live in Cornwall, and have four amazing children, and two beautiful grandchildren. Shelagh and I share a love of kayaking and snorkelling and are very grateful to live in such a beautiful area, where we can practice our craft! I am currently employed by Compassion UK as a Senior Partnership Manager and have worked with the organisation since 2018.

I became a Christian in 1983. I was involved in local church leadership, and after eight years, was called into ministry and was ordained in the Elim movement in 1994. (I am still fully credentialled with Elim)

I have a master’s in theology and have extensively researched revival, producing a dissertation on church planting.

Church Ministry.

After 12 months as Assistant Pastor at an Elim Church in Bournemouth, Shelagh and I were asked to move to Cornwall to re-pioneer a small seaside church with around 20 attendees in it.

In the 26 years that we were there, we saw to central congregation peak at around 300 (In a town of 18,000) and saw others go from us and plant churches as well as establishing what is now a larger congregation than the central church in a nearby town.

Over £3,000,000 was raised to expand facilities and train leaders during this time. The church had around 30 staff running a plethora of ministries that in turn brought great influence in the community. Numerous leaders were raised and released from the church during this time.

Partly because of this growth, for nearly thirty years I have ministered extensively to churches, leaders and denominations. I have held various positions within the movement during this time and am currently on the southern Regional Leadership Team.

I am an analytical and strategic leader.

Industry.

I started out as a qualified aerospace engineer (mfg.) and after I completed my apprenticeship, I was extensively trained in Computer Numerical Control, I rose to the position of a CNC programming foreman, responsible for producing high precision aircraft parts and ran the turning division of a well-respected sub-contract aerospace company in the south.

At the age of 30, I progressed into a technical sales role with a large Austrian carbide and tooling manufacturer, applying customised sophisticated cutting tool solutions in the manufacturing industry. With great references from all of my employers, I left to pursue a call to run a church.

Compassion UK

After a clear call from God in 2018, I was offered the position of South West Development Manager with Compassion UK, being promoted 11 months later to the position of Senior Partnership Manager.

The benefit to my consulting work is off the scale. This amazing organisation has taught me so much about agile working, good practice and has hugely inputted into my philosophy of what team is.
